Following on from the success and awareness of COLOUR Friday, pioneered by Holly+Co as an alternative to Black Friday, this encouraged many to shop small for their loved ones at Christmas and beyond. Perhaps you were gifted or purchased an item from a small business you found with a little searching and treasure hunting. It’s continuing in supporting those brands that you found or were introduced to that seals their spot in your home, work life and the way you gift to others.
There is so much power in UK small businesses, with a lot of love behind these start-up from the kitchen table ventures, that when faced with the choice, it’s better for the planet and economy to shop mindfully. Once you go independent, it inspires those around you to do the same, and by changing spending habits to vote with your money in the best way, it gives such a boost to businesses facing soaring costs.
We are proud to still be innovating, expanding our offering and reaching our customers via social media and (yay!) back at in-person events. If you encourage others to think #smallbusiness it really can make all the difference. One decision to perhaps forgo same-day delivery for something mass produced, and instead choosing slow fashion, lovingly made and responsibly sourced is no small drop in the ocean.
